Award-winning and world renowned, Rev. Dr. Denita Hedgeman, is an author, speaker, choreographer and entertainer who inspires people to reach their goals and live their purpose through inspirational messages, training/consulting and performing arts.  She is also a certified career, personal, business, ministry, fitness and purpose life purpose and relationship coach. 

 

She has won numerous awards in career development, dance and ministry including “Best Choreography” award in Nice, France; “Most Creative Dance Group” by Destined 2 Dance; “National Talent Search” by Dance Ministry Award Show; “Esther 25 Women Leaders in Ministry Award” by the National Coalition of Women in Ministry; and “Best Campus Liaison” "Campus of the Year" and “Director of the Year Award” by the National Urban League.

 

She has traveled extensively and has performed with artists such as:  Foreigner, Tonex, Howard Hewitt, Jonathan Slocumb, CeCe Winans, Kurt Carr, V. Michael McKay, Smokey Norful, Dennis Quaid, Isaac Hayes, Eric Johnson, Sharon Glass, Larnell Harris, Jason D. Williams, Hal Ketchum, Kenneth Davis, Everett McBee, Juanita Bynum and Lamman Rucker.  She has been featured on PM Magazine, TBN and The Bobby Jones Show as well in movies, TV, plays, commercials, Off-Broadway, MTV and training films.  She plans events, consults and facilitates workshops for conferences, retreats, businesses, churches, ministries, colleges, fitness programs, etc. 

 

Dr. Hedgeman was the Founder and Minister of Dance for the Mississippi Blvd. Christian Church Dance Ministry from 1990-2006 and is a member of the National Liturgical Dance Network (NLDN). 

 

She is the author of "While I Wait", "While I Wait" Workbook and “Guidelines to Starting and Maintaining a Church Dance Ministry".  She is the producer/ choreographer of the DVD, "Dancing Into Your Calling" which is an instructional and exercise program for Praise Dancers.  She is also the Founder and Choreographer for the outreach award-winning group, Disciples of Dance.  She has published articles in national magazines such as Dance Ministry Magazine Fall 2006, The African American Pulpit “A Dance Ministry in Your Church” and the HBCU Career Guide “Finding Your Purpose and Applying It to Your Career Search” which landed her on the cover of the latter.

She has an undergraduate degree in Journalism/Advertising and a Master and Doctoral degree in Religious Dance. 

 

She was a motivational speaker for monster.com, the Director of Career Services at LeMoyne-Owen College and is the Youth Services Event Coordinator for the City of Memphis Office of Youth Services.  She is currently the owner of Denita Hedgeman, Etc. which is a consulting and professional and ministry development organization.
